Frequently
Asked Questions:
Question: I would like to find the right artwork for
our office, but my work schedule won't allow it. How can MFI help and
how do we get started?
Answer: MFI will come to you.
We can provide you with an MFI consultant who will serve as a personal
curator for your company. MFI consultants are experts in art research,
placement, appraisal, conservation, and framing and can guide you in locating
the right artwork for your office. Our art consulting services are designed
to streamline the acquisition process to enable you to acquire works of
art that reflect your company's style and image.
To start, an MFI art consultant will meet with you to view your offices
and begin an analysis of your company's floor plan in order to determine
where art may be placed and whether existing artwork will need to be
moved and/or reframed. During this meeting, our consultant will work
with you
to develop the image that reflects your company's style and makes the
best use of your financial resources. We have found that having the financial
decision-maker present during this meeting is essential to facilitating
the process.
Question: Why don’t you send me a catalog?
Answer: I wish we could.
A catalog cannot accurately represent all of the artwork that we have
at our disposal. Whether your company intends to acquire paintings, sculpture,
photography, limited edition prints, or fine art reproductions, we have
a wide range of resources. Throughout our twenty-five year history, we
have developed working relationships with many prominent artists and we
continue to find new artistic talent through our own gallery. MFI has
cultivated strong relationships with galleries and publishers nationally
and internationally. Consequently, we are able to show our clients original
works of art given to us on consignment by these other art institutions.
We have an extensive library of slides, portfolios, photos, catalogs,
and digital images of thousands of artists. An MFI art consultant can
work with you to establish your collection goals. Presentations of original
works of art can be made upon your request and at your convenience.
Question: What are your fees? How can this be affordable?
Answer: Your cost is the retail cost.
We have relationships with artists, publishers and galleries throughout
the United States and abroad. Our revenue is derived from the discounts
that we receive based upon our trade relationships with these suppliers.
These relationships allow us to offer artwork to our clients at retail
cost. There are no additional fees or mark-ups on the artwork that we
provide for you. Our consultation services are an invaluable resource
which we offer to our clients without charge. These services include the
initial walk-through, research, and presentation of your collection. Consultation
services extending beyond these basics or that involve significantly more
time than is typical to complete a collection, are charged on a separate
fee schedule.
MFI consultants are skilled in placement, installation, conservation,
inventory, and deaccession. They can work with you on maintaining and
developing your existing collection. These supplemental services are invoiced
separately.
Question: How long will this process take?
Answer: This depends on you.
Our services are designed to meet the demands of the busy executive. We
can expedite the process by meeting with someone from your office who
is familiar with your business and who can accompany one of our consultants
on a walk through of your office. After an initial analysis of your needs,
an MFI consultant will meet with you to discuss artistic direction and
budget. Once you have determined your collection goals, we begin contacting
artists, publishers and/or galleries to consign artwork to us for our
presentation to you. After you have selected the artwork that you plan
to acquire, we will assist you with the framing and placement of your
collection. At this point we submit a final proposal to you for your approval.
Depending upon your availability, the time necessary between the initial
walk through of your offices to the drafting of the final proposal can
be as little as a few days. Once you have approved the proposal, we request
a 50% deposit from you to begin the acquisition process. From the time
we receive your deposit, we can deliver and install your collection within
three to five weeks.
